LEGAZPI CITY, Albay — Anti-illegal drug police operatives collared a suspected drug peddler during a raid at her residence in the coastal barangay (village) of Sabang here Monday, police said.

Shirley Esplana, whose name was on the anti-narcotics watchlist, was arrested by the police in the raid at 3:40 p.m., said Supt. Joselito Esico, Legazpi City police chief. Authorities consider Sabang among the illegal drug hotspot villages in this city.

Esico said the raiding team seized from the suspect’s possession 35 sachets of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride), and illegal drug paraphernalia.

Esplana was arrested by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court Judge Frank Lobrigo. She will be charged with violating Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.  SFM
