Did you know: Term ends for President, VP noon of June 30

ARTICLE VII, Section 4 of the 1987 Philippine Constitution states that the term of the newly elected President and Vice President shall begin at noon of the next June 30 after elections and shall end on the same day six years thereafter.

Six presidents— Manuel Quezon (1941), Elpidio Quirino (1949), Ramon  Magsaysay (1953), Carlos Garcia (1957), Diosdado Macapagal (1961) and Ferdinand Marcos (1965, 1969) were sworn in on Rizal Day, Dec. 30. Marcos (1981), Fidel Ramos (1992), Joseph Estrada (1998), Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo (2004), and Benigno Aquino III (2010) all took their oath of office on June 30. Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
