Tropical depression “Ambo” slightly gained speed as it prepared to make landfall in Aurora province, the state weather bureau said on Sunday.
In a 5 p.m. weather bulletin issued by Pagasa, Ambo is now moving at 22 kilometers per hour (kph) in a west northwest direction. It still packs maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center and is located 140 kilometers northeast of Virac, Catanduanes.

Pagasa weather forecaster Aldczar Aurelio said in a televised press briefing that with Ambo’s current speed, it might exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Tuesday.
It is also expected that the tropical depression may weaken when it makes landfall in Aurora Monday morning.
Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 1 was raised over Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, Northern Quezon, including Polillo Islands, Aurora, and Quirino.
The state weather bureau said that occasional moderate to heavy rains are expected to hit Northern and Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and the Bicol Region. JE/rga
