Loan scam duo nabbed

/ 01:22 AM June 24, 2016

Two men who posed as military and police officials to borrow money from lending firms were arrested in an entrapment operation.

Carlos del Rosario—who pretended to be Col. Procopio Arciaga and Insp. Roy del Rosario—was caught with Billy Gamboa—who claimed to be 2Lt. Flavio Mendoza—outside a bank on Quirino Highway, Lagro, Quezon City, on Wednesday.

Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Metro Manila chief, Senior Supt. Ronald Lee, said they received a complaint about the duo’s activities from one of their victims, Allan Olalia, who said Del Rosario disappeared after borrowing P7 million from his lending company.

On Monday, the suspect contacted Olalia again, referring him to Gamboa, a supposed retired soldier, as a possible borrower. Olalia immediately contacted the police which set up an entrapment operation.
