Suspect in past break-in at Duterte aide’s house killed

DAVAO CITY – A man suspected of previously breaking into the house of Christopher Go, incoming President Rodrigo Duterte’s executive assistant, was killed while trying to forcibly enter another house here early morning Wednesday.

Chief Insp. Milgrace Driz, spokesperson of the city police office, said Bernardo Rama, 30, and a resident of Barangay Angliongto here, was entering a house in Guadalupe Village in Lanang here around 1:30 a.m. when spotted. He tried to flee.

Driz said instead of peacefully yielding, Rama fired a handgun towards the responding policemen who eventually cornered him. He was hit twice and was killed when authorities fired back, Driz said.

She said a .38 caliber revolver with four live ammunition and a spent shell were recovered from the slain suspect.

Driz said Rama was the suspect who broke into Go’s house several months ago. It was not clear if he had taken anything from the official’s house during that incident. JE
