3 drug pushers nabbed in Bicol

LEGAZPI CITY – With the police’s intensified campaign against illegal drugs, at least three drug pushers were arrested in the Bicol region through separate police operations, police said Tuesday.

In a drug bust in Barangay Ibingay, Masbate City, two suspected drug pushers were arrested at 3:30 p.m. Monday.

Teams led by Chief Inspector Norlando Mesa of the Masbate provincial police arrested Sharon Burdeos, 33, of Barangay Tugbo, Masbate City, and Jaylord Carmen, 18, of Barangay Nursery, also in Masbate City.

Police recovered from Burdeos six pieces of transparent plastic sachets containing a substance believed to be shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride), two pieces of aluminum foil with residue of white crystalline substance, an empty medium-sized transparent plastic sachet containing residue of shabu and P1,100.

Senior Police Officer 1 Zandro Cabintoy, public information officer of the Masbate provincial police, said Carmen was believed to be buying illegal drugs from Burdeos. Recovered from Carmen was one transparent plastic sachet also containing shabu.

Cabintoy said the crime laboratory was still determining determine the street value of the confiscated illegal drugs.

Also on Monday, at 7 a.m., Dennis Badiola of Tigaon, Camarines Sur, was arrested through a search warrant for violation of Republic Act No. 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Anti-Illegal Drugs Act of 2002. Recovered in the suspects’ possession were five heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets with suspected shabu and two rolls of aluminum foil and assorted lighters.  SFM/rga
