MANILA — Two men tagged by the police as “notorious” drug dealers in the National Capital Region were killed in an encounter with operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detective Group on Tuesday morning near a gasoline station along NIA Road in Quezon City.
A report by Superintendent Rodelio Marcelo of the Quezon City Police District’s Station and Investigation and Detection Unit stated that Asnawe Ala, 23, resident of Dasmariñas, Cavite, and Khalid Amintao, 36, of Pasig City, were killed after they exchanged shots with policemen around 4 a.m. on Pinyahan Street.
Both sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the head and body.
PO3 Jogene Hernandez, case investigator, said joint operatives from CIDG-NCR, Highway Patrol Group and the City Hall Detachment Quezon City were supposed to conduct a buy-bust operation against the two when the latter found out that the persons they were about to transact with were policemen.
The suspects immediately sped off and escaped with their blue Toyota Altis car, resulting in an exchange of fire and a brief chase, Hernandez said.
The two were then cornered and suffered fatal gunshot wounds. They were rushed to the East Avenue Medical Center but were declared dead around 4:05 a.m.
Recovered from the crime scene were the suspects’ driven Toyota Altis car containing at least three kilos worth of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) with a street value of around P3 million; two .45-Colt and magazine loaded with live ammunitions; seven pieces of fired cartridge cases; 10 pieces of cartridge cases for a 9mm gun; and a fired bullet for a .45-gun.
