THE HOUSE of Representatives inaugurates this week its digitized library and museum which will hold its historical records and other information about the lower chamber.
Outgoing Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr. will lead on Tuesday the inauguration of the newly built House of Representatives Legislative Library, Archives and Museum building at the Batasang Pambansa compound in Quezon City.
The museum will house the “first and only electronic legislative library in the country, complete with modern information and communications technology equipment,” House Deputy Secretary General Edgardo Pangilinan said.
The facility will offer e-library services necessary for legislation and maintain a specialized collection of information resources—books, e-books, journals and other online resources —on legislation, legislation-related matters and legislatures, he added.
The museum will showcase the more than 100-year history of the legislatures of the Philippine, from the First National Assembly in 1907.
It will also feature legislative artifacts and memorabilia about all the speakers of the House.
A Congressional Wall of Honor will list the complete roster of House members from 1907 to 2016, in “tribute to the men and women who shaped and defined the Philippine legislature as a strong institution of democracy in the country.”DJ Yap
