TACURONG CITY, Sultan Kudarat – A 26-year-old suspected drug pusher traded shots with lawmen in Isulan, Sultan Kudarat, and was shot dead on Wednesday (June 15), local police said.

Senior Supt. Raul Supiter, Sultan Kudarat police director, told reporters that Kamin Angolin shot it out with arresting officers hereon Wednesday afternoon.

Angolin, a resident of Barangay Pagatin, Datu Salibo, Maguindanao, used a home-made 12-gauge shotgun in firing at arresting officers following an illegal drug buy bust operation, Supiter said.

Angolin, who was in the police list of persons engaged in the illegal drug trade, had in his possession a fragmentation grenade, three sachets of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) and shotgun ammunition.

Supiter assured the victim’s rights were not violated and that he was armed with hand grenade when he resisted arrest.

He sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died on the spot.
