Three cousins killed in Isabela town ambush

SANTO TOMAS, Isabela — Three cousins were killed in an attack by four gunmen as they drove their motorcycles across a bridge in Barangay Cullalabo at 4:55 p.m. on June 15, according to a belated police report.

Cayetano Laggui, 28; Marvin Laggui, 33; and Jerry Macapia, 50, died from gunshot wounds at the Cullalabo Bridge, said Supt. Narciso Paragas, chief of the Isabela police intelligence unit.

Police arrested Baleleng village chief Ortiz Callueng, who supposedly ordered the attack, but the village official said he was being framed for the crime. Police are hunting down three men who were identified as the shooters.

Senior Insp. Richard Gatan, Santo Tomas police chief, said two of the slain men were witnesses in a criminal case.  SFM
