UNDER Proclamation No. 75 signed on June 19, 1948, by then President Elpidio Quirino, June 19 was declared Filipino Youth Day. The celebration was made to coincide with the birth anniversary of Jose Rizal, whose life and writings looked at the Filipino youth as the “fair hope of the Fatherland.” On Filipino Youth Day, activities relating to the life and works of Rizal are encouraged to inspire the youth into dedicating their lives to the pattern of service established by the National Hero.
