Governance summit ongoing in Batangas
The Philippine Social Science Council is currently hosting in Batangas City a three-day summit that is seen to address the country’s issues on sustainability and inclusive governance.
Themed “Inclusive Governance: Gateways to Sustainable Futures,” the 8th National Social Science Congress, which opened on Wednesday, will provide the platform for social scientists, researchers, students and practitioners alike to discuss how the country can solve issues on inclusive governance and sustainability.
Among the topics the summit will focus on are: the governance of natural resources; the management of cultural heritage and diversity; and the role and contributions of women to good governance, among others.
Commission on Higher Education Chair Patricia Licuanan served as the keynote speaker in the summit’s opening ceremony on Wednesday at Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) Batangas.
LPU Batangas president Peter Laurel and Batangas Governor-elect Hermilando Mandanas also graced the summit, which will run until tomorrow.
For today’s set of discussions, three international experts are expected to provide participants with their inputs on disaster governance in the Asian context.
