THE LIBERAL Party (LP) spent P241 million for the May 2016 polls, according to the Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE) it submitted to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Tuesday, six days after the June 8 deadline.

The documents, however, did not include the SOCE of Manuel “Mar” Roxas, the LP’s losing standard-bearer and the only presidential candidate who failed to beat the deadline set by the poll body.

The documents, contained in five boxes, were filed by a staff member of LP and declared a total of P241,097,372.73 in expenditures, against contributions of P181,080,000 in cash from nonmembers and P60,017,372.73 from party members, respectively.

The documents were received by the Comelec-Campaign Finance Office. It was notarized by lawyer Doris Ramirez on June 10 and was organized by its treasurer Alfonso Umali Jr.
