LP submits SOCE 6 days after deadline; Roxas to file within the week

Six days past the deadline, the Liberal Party (LP) submitted its statement of contributions and expenditures (SOCE) before the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Tuesday.

In the expenditure report an LP staff submitted to the Comelec office in Manila, it showed that the erstwhile ruling party spent P214,097,372.73.

The LP’s SOCE was signed by its treasurer and former Oriental Mindoro Gov. Alfonso Umali Jr.

However, its standard-bearer, defeated presidential candidate Manuel “Mar” Roxas II still has yet to file his own SOCE.

Roxas’ campaign spokesperson and Akbayan Rep. Ibarra “Barry” Gutierrez III said in a text message to INQUIRER.net that Roxas intends to submit his campaign expenses report within the week.

Gutierrez earlier said they are going through “voluminous number of receipts that have to be scanned and attached to the document in compliance with the rules and in the interest of complete transparency.”

Roxas’ running mate Ma. Leonor “Leni” Robredo, meanwhile, submitted her SOCE on the day of the deadline last June 8.

The LP earlier sought a 14-day extension from the poll body after it failed to submit the report on time. RAM
