Garcia, Bataan political clan patriarch, dies; 75
BALANGA CITY— Bataan Rep. Enrique “Tet” Garcia Jr., the province’s newly elected vice governor, died on Monday at the Makati Medical Center from a lingering liver ailment. He was 75.
But Garcia’s replacement as vice governor, however, remains up in the air. He ran unopposed in the May 9 elections.
Garcia was elected second district congressman in 1987 and completed his second term until 1992 before running for Bataan governor, a post he served from 1992 to 1994 and from 2004 to 2013. He was a member of the 8th, 10th, 11th and 12th Congress.
His remains have been brought to the family home here. Burial details have yet to be finalized. Allan Macatuno and Greg Refraccion, Inquirer Central Luzon
