OVER and out.
Security personnel in some subdivisions in Caloocan City will be saying these words more often once they have received their very own two-way radios that are directly linked to the police and barangay authorities from the local government.
Mayor Enrico Echiverri has ordered the distribution of 100 units of these as a means to ensure the safety of residents throughout the city, a move that is also seen as an attempt to curb crime incidence in an area known for rampant petty crimes.
The two-way radios, which resemble cell phones but are much bigger in size, will enable security personnel based in each subdivision outpost to communicate directly with police stations and barangay halls. This, Echiverri said, will eventually result in quicker responses to crimes being committed in the area.
The use of the radio equipment is also expected to largely benefit residents who are far from police or barangay headquarters, and who have to travel long distances to report crime incidents, Echiverri said.
