Fatal drink for young girl

A 15-YEAR-OLD girl died Saturday after drinking a bottle of silver cleaning solution in Navotas City. Police identified the victim as Nicole Laxa E. Kapienza. The incident happened around 5:30 a.m. in Kapienza’s house located on Raja Humabon Street in Barangay Daang Hari. Police said the victim seemed to have drank the solution at dawn, while everybody was asleep. Kapienza’s parents only found out about what their daughter had done when they saw her mouth bubbling as she lay on her bed. The silver cleaner bottle was found in the room where she was sleeping. Cyclist run over by truck

A MAN pedaling his bicycle died after he was run over by an 18-wheeler truck Saturday morning in Quezon City. Traffic investigator PO3 Ferdinand Paglinawan said the victim, Cerilo Batoto, 47, died on the spot due to severe head injuries he suffered. The vehicular mishap happened at around 11 a.m. along the Quirino Highway near the corner of Sarmiento Street in Novaliches. The truck driver, Remegio Correa, 53, a resident of Caloocan City, surrendered to authorities. Correa claimed the victim was biking in front of his truck when he suddenly lost his balance and fell off the bike. He said he tried to stop the truck but it was already too late. Julie M. Aurelio

Street urchin held on slay case

MANILA policemen arrested before dawn Saturday a 15-year-old street urchin, one of three boys who allegedly mauled and stabbed dead a teenager whom they held a grudge against.
