3 hurt as blast rocks Shanghai’s Pudong airport

Suspected homemade bombs exploded near check-in counters at the Shanghai Pudong International Airport on Sunday (June 12) afternoon, injuring three passengers, the airport authorities and media reports said.

The blast happened at 2:20pm when “suspected homemade explosive material” exploded at the C check-in area at the airport’s Terminal 2, the Shanghai Airport Authorities said on its Weibo account.

The three injured passengers were rushed to hospital, it said, and the area has been cordoned off by police.

Flights have not been affected, the airport authority added.
