LEGAZPI CITY—A policeman suspected of robbing a courier service office died in a gunfight with another policeman in this city in Albay province on Wednesday afternoon.

Senior Police Officer 2 Darwin Bachiller, information officer of the Legazpi City police, said the suspect, PO2 Ronnie Sandrino, who was assigned in the Pilar town police station in Sorsogon province, died in a shoot-out with PO1 Milgar Nocos at an LBC courier service branch in the Old Albay District here at 1:20 p.m.

Bachiller said Nocos responded to a report that the LBC office was robbed. He said Nocos found Sandrino, who was in civilian clothing, escaping, leading to the firefight.

Reports said it was only later that Sandrino was identified as a policeman, after investigators examined his 9 mm pistol and traced its ownership.

Police recovered about P11,000 from Sandrino, who died while undergoing treatment at the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital here.
