Billionaires Pacquiao, Ledesma lead richest House members

Filipino boxing legend Manny Pacquiao leaves the House of Representatives with the distinction of being the richest congressman, a list of filed statement of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN) from the lower chamber for 2015 showed.

Pacquiao, who was recently elected as senator, had a net worth of P3,268,200,088.00 for 2015, almost double of the P1.688 billion he recorded in 2014.

Following him is another billionaire, Negros Occidental Rep. Julio Ledesma IV who had a net worth of P1,004,951,837.92 for 2015. According to his 2014 SALN, Ledesma was the fifth wealthiest solon with P822.275 million net worth.

House Speaker Feliciano Belmonte became the third richest House member with a net worth of P941,648,636.42, higher than his 2014 net worth of P921.559 million.

In fourth place is former First Lady and Ilocos Norte Rep. Imelda Marcos who had a net worth of P917,800,000.

Negros Occidental third district Rep. Alfredo Benitez is the fifth richest congressman with a net worth of P880,017,206, higher than P845.928 million he recorded in 2014.

Couple Diwa party-list Rep. Emmeline Aglipay-Villar and incoming Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar placed sixth and seventh wealthiest lawmakers, respectively. They had a net worth of P689,535, 772.

Losing senatorial candidate and Marcos relative Martin Romualdez placed eighth with a net worth of P475,619,805.59, slightly higher than his P474.766 million in 2014.

The ninth richest congressman is former President and Pampanga Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo with a net worth of P393,915,603.71.

In tenth place is Rizal Rep. Joel Roy Duavit who had a net worth of P302,624,883.79, lower than the P317.975 million he recorded in 2014.

On the other hand, Anakpawis party-list Rep. Fernando Hicap remained as the poorest lawmaker with a net worth of P43,239.14, lower than his P95,572 in 2014.

Other lawmakers who are at the top 10 poorest congressmen’s list are: 1 CARE Rep. Eduardo Masongsong with P2,524,350.48, Kabataan party-list Rep.Terry Ridon with P1,939,193, Akbayan party-list Rep. Angelina Katoh with P1,790,000, Abang Lingkod Rep. Joseph Stephen Paduano with P1,584,425.19, Abakada party-list Rep. Jonathan Dela Cruz with P1,450,000, Sulu Rep. Maryam Abison with P1,400,000, Gabriela party-list Rep. Emmerenciana De Jesus with P1,395,000, Bayan Muna party-list Rep. Carlos Isagani Zarate with P1,124,626 and Kalinga Rep.
