Babysitter dead in Bataan hostage drama

BALANGA CITY, Bataan, Philippines—A babysitter was stabbed and killed by a driver after a 45-minute hostage drama inside the house of a former city councilor here on Wednesday.

Police said Aicel Jane Lim, 25, died while being taken to the ICMC Hospital here. Lim was babysitter at the house of former Councilor Lorenzo Tapan in Barangay Ibayo.

Reports said Lim and Roberto Reyes, 45, a driver of one of the government agencies at the provincial capitol, had a fight inside Tapan’s house. Police could not immediately establish if Lim and Reyes had any relation.

Reyes reportedly took Lim hostage until policemen came and asked Tapan to intervene. Tapan was able to grab the kitchen knife from Reyes after the latter stabbed Lim.
