Duterte to 'realign' Pagcor funds to health, education

DAVAO CITY—Incoming President Rodrigo Duterte on Saturday night vowed to use “all earnings” of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (Pagcor) for health services and education.

“I will commit all earnings sa Pagcor which runs to billions. Ibigay sa mga ospital, para sa hospitalization (Give it to the hospitals, for the hospitalization),” Duterte told around 500,000 crowd during his thanksgiving party at the Crocodile Park here.

The 71-year old local executive also vowed to realign Pagcor funds for education services.

“Dito sa education, I will endeavor to build national high schools. No need to walk 30 kilometers to go to school; ako mismo magdala ng eskuwelahan,” he said.

(For education, I will endeavor to build national high schools. No need to walk 30 kilometers to go to school; I will bring the schools to them myself.)

During the campaign period, Duterte said that aside from health and education, agriculture would be his priority. JE
