Reporter visits Duterte, gets Cabinet post
TV 5 reporter Martin Andanar on Thursday flew in to Davao City to offer his services to President-elect Rodrigo Duterte and, by some stroke of luck, was immediately offered to head the Presidential Communications Operations Office.
In an ambush interview after Duterte announced his appointment on Thursday night, Andanar said he had just flown in that day to visit the President-elect when he was given the position.
The radio and television anchor said he did not expect Duterte to offer him a position.
“I just flew here today, I just said that I want to offer my services to the government. I did not expect that I will be offered a position,” Andanar said.
Andanar will replace Communications Secretary Herminio “Sonny” Coloma Jr.
“My job is to fix the different platforms of media of the government. PTV, Radyo ng Bayan, PIA news bureau, all of these things dapat ayusin ’yan and it’s gonna move forward,” Andanar said.
