DAVAO CITY, Philippines—Less than a month before President-elect Rodrigo Duterte assumes office, drug dealers are putting their merchandise on sale.
“They [drug dealers in Cebu] are having this closing-out sale,” incoming Philippine National Police Director Ronald dela Rosa against those involved in illegal drugs.
“Everything must go before the Duterte administration comes in,” he said.
He said he received reports that drugs dealers are disposing all their supply.
“It”s very cheap. There are those who sell it through installment scheme,” he added.
Dela Rosa also promised to deliver a “knockout punch” against those involved in illegal drugs trade.
“They will be shocked with what we will do when we assume office,” Dela Rosa said.
The former Davao City police chief said he may give the “not-so-critical matters,” but will not divulge “our knockout punch.”
Dela Rosa also said the antidrugs campaign will prioritize the National Capital Region, Regions 3, 4, 6, 7 and the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
He also vowed to implement Oplan Tokhang (Toktok-Hangyo or knock and plead) in the national scale.
Oplan Tokhang is an anti-illegal drugs campaign here where the police literally knock on the doors of suspected drug users, and ask them to stop their illegal trade.
