A DISMISSED policeman and his live-in partner were shot dead Thursday morning while traveling together on a motorbike in Camarin, Caloocan City.

Man in packed Caloocan jail dies of heart attack

A 50-YEAR-OLD man detained since last week by the Caloocan City police died of a heart attack Thursday afternoon, officials said.

Larry Villamer, who was jailed at the police headquarters on May 28 for alleged possession of illegal drugs, was pronounced dead at Caloocan City Medical Center around 1:45 p.m., 20 minutes after he collapsed while in detention.

SPO4 Ernesto Daria, chief of the detention unit, admitted that the heat and overcrowding in the jail may be a factor in Villamer’s death.

The jail was meant for only 50 men but it is currently packed with up to 80 due to delays in the issuance of commitment orders from the Department of Justice, Daria said.
