Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago, who has been brought to the intensive care unit (ICU) of the Makati Medical Center, is feeling better, her media staff said on Thursday.

The lady senator is scheduled to return from ICU to a private room, her media staff said in a statement.

“Further updates will be announced by her office soon,” it added.

Santiago was rushed to the hospital last Monday and was moved to the ICU on Tuesday.

The senator was said to be “bearing well with her trademark sense of humor.”

Santiago lost her third bid on the May 9 presidential elections.

In 2014, she was diagnosed with an advanced stage of lung cancer. Last year, she claimed she has beaten it and later declared her candidacy for president. CDG/rga
