PRESIDENT-ELECT Rodrigo Duterte should look at Vice President-elect Leni Robredo as an “asset” to his incoming administration, according to outgoing Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr.
But the leader of the House of Representatives said he was not in any position to ask the next President to give Robredo, the outgoing Camarines Sur congresswoman, a Cabinet position.
“I think that is something that they better decide between them. If it becomes a partisan question, and it’s framed as us Liberals wanting an appointment, I think it’s not a good approach,” Belmonte said.
Robredo and Belmonte are both members of the Liberal Party, which is fast losing its members and political clout as Duterte forms his official family.
Belmonte said it was a good sign for the Duterte administration that Robredo had expressed her intention to fully cooperate with him.
