BATANGAS CITY, Philippines—A 64-year-old grandfather was killed while his grandson was wounded in a shooting incident perpetrated by two unidentified suspects in Taysan town in the province of Batangas Thursday afternoon, police said.
Senior Supt. Arcadio Ronquillo, Batangas police director, said slain victim Papa Hornilla, 64, and his 15-year-old grandson Gerald Samonte were on board an owner-type jeep when the suspects fired at them around 2 p.m.
Hornilla died while being transported to Maderazo Hospital in Rosario town while Samonte suffered a wound in his leg from a stray bullet. He is now undergoing treatment in a hospital here. RAM/rga
