Cop shot dead in Ilocos Norte

MANILA, Philippines — An unidentified gunman shot dead a policeman in Ilocos Norte before dawn Wednesday, a police spokesman said.

Senior Police Officer 4 Edwin Aquino, assigned to the traffic division, was shot to death by unidentified suspects at the Department of Public Safety in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte at around 4:25 a.m., said Philippine National Police spokesperson Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr.

Cruz said that investigation was underway to determine the identity and motive of the suspect for killing the police officer.
