Poe returns to Senate after lost bid for presidency

After staying away from the public eye since the  May 9 elections, Senator Grace Poe returned to the Senate as it resumed its session on Monday.

Poe, who ran for president  but lost to presumptive President-elect Rodrigo Duterte, entered the session when most of her colleagues were already in the plenary.

She passed by Senate Majority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano, who ran with Duterte, and went directly to shake the hands of Senate Minority Leader Juan Ponce Enrile.

Poe also greeted Senators Sonny Angara and Bam Aquino while Senator Loren Legarda approached her, shook her hand and gave her a hug.

While Poe and Legarda exchanged some chitchat, Senator Cynthia Villar passed by them without approaching the former.

It was Poe who later approached and greeted Villar.

Villar is a member of the Nacionalista Party of her husband, former Senator Manny Villar, which forged an alliance with Duterte’s PDP-Laban immediately after the elections.

Poe conceded defeat to Duterte just hours before the Commission on Election started its partial and unofficial canvassing last May 9.
