Police yield P145-M worth of shabu in Cavite

SAN PEDRO CITY–Police recovered 29 kilograms of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride), worth P145 million, in a buy-bust operation in Imus City, Cavite province on Friday afternoon.

In a telephone interview on Saturday, Senior Supt. Noli Ozaeta of the Philippine National Police’s Anti-Illegal Drugs Group (AIDG) based in Camp Crame, Quezon City, said police arrested Ardel Ajido, 33, around 4:30 p.m. at the Dream Ville Subdivision in Barangay Carsadang II in Imus City.

Ozaeta said Ajido, a resident of Bacoor City, also in Cavite, was the subject of a joint anti-illegal drug operation by the AIDG and the Cavite police.

During the transaction, Ajido sold a kilogram of shabu, worth P1 million, to undercover agents.

He said they also found more shabu in two bags inside the suspect’s vehicle. Police believed the large amount of shabu would be delivered to other groups involved in the illegal drugs trade.

Earlier this week, police also recovered 10.4 kg of shabu worth P20 million in a separate operation in Bacoor City.
