Despite the various challenges they have encountered in managing the 2016 elections, Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chair Andres Bautista believes they have outperformed their expectation.
“I always try to have positive attitude towards everything. But I’d like to think that we outperformed our expectation,” he told reporters when asked if he was satisfied with the outcome of the recent polls.
According to Bautista, they intend to review and assess the poll body’s performance in a bid to improve future electoral exercises.
“We will probably call for something like a strategic planning conference of various Comelec officials so that we can assess what we did well and what we can improve so that for the next elections, we build upon the gains of this elections,” he said.
“We want to come up with a draft omnibus election code that will be more reflective of the current situation especially when it comes to technology—how technology has changed our election,” Bautista added.
