CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – An alleged drug pusher suspected to have killed several persons in the past was gunned down by law enforcers during a shoot-out in Barangay Bulua here on Monday evening.
Chief Inspector Ariel Pontillas of the Bulua police said suspect Brian Sultan was a member of a drug syndicate operating in the city and surrounding towns and was reported to have murdered drug pushers who couldn’t pay their dealers and those whom he suspected of being police informants.
The police tailed Sultan, who was then riding a taxi, when they received a report of his presence in Bulua.
When he sensed that policemen were following him, Sultan shot the taxi driver, identified as Mario Pacmoy.
Pontillas said the suspect might have thought that the driver tipped the authorities off about his activities.
Pontillas said policemen pursued the suspect until a shoot-out broke out.
“He did not heed our call for him to surrender. He fired at us,” Pontillas said. TVJ/rga
