MANILA — Police are investigating the circumstances behind a brazen gun attack which killed a 56-year-old lawyer in broad daylight in a busy thoroughfare in Barangay Central, Quezon city on Monday afternoon.
The Kamuning police said the 3:10 p.m. ambush along East Avenue at the corner of the BIR road killef lawyer Ferdinand Lopez, identified by his driver Jerico Ricafort and his staff Ricardo Solis, both of whom sustained gunshot wounds.
Supt. Pedro Sanchez, chief of the Kamuning police station, said Lopez and Solis were on board Lopez’s sedan (PHI 723) being driven by Ricafort when two unidentified men on a motorcycle with no plate number opened fire on the car before speeding away.
Sanchez said Lopez had just come from a estafa hearing, in which he was the complainant, at the Quezon city hall of justice. Investigators are checking if the attack was related to the case.
Senior Insp. Elmer Monsalve, the Quezon City police homicide chief, said police were in the process of identifying the perpetrators and knowing the background of Lopez.
The victims were brought to the East Avenue Medical Center. SFM/rga
