Sleazy characters among job applicants

My sources in Davao City say all the city’s hotels are filled with guests seeking favor or applying for positions in the administration of presumptive President Digong.

Digong Duterte is nowhere to be found, apparently taking a long rest after a very hectic and rigorous campaign.

But the favor-seekers and job applicants don’t mind waiting.

Among the job applicants are a lawyer—described by my fellow columnist Rina Jimenez-David as a “sleaze ball” and who is a laughingstock among his peers—and a rice smuggler who used his government position in the P-Noynoy administration as cover.

These sleazy characters are applying for the positions of presidential spokesperson or press secretary.

They’ve even gone further: They have already unashamedly appointed themselves to those positions.

Digong would be making a very big mistake if he appoints these two characters in his administration.

The two characters don’t have pleasant faces, and their personality matches their countenance.

Worse, they’re not articulate.

The press secretary or spokesperson should be good-looking, like Abigail Valte, Edwin Lacierda and Sonny Coloma of the administration which is about to bow out.

I recommend Mike Toledo, who was press secretary during the abbreviated Erap administration, for the job of Digong’s presidential spokesperson.

Toledo, a topnotch lawyer, is very fluent and very handsome, to boot.

Presidential spokespersons—like TV reporters—should look good and speak well on TV, which is the public’s favorite medium of information.

Presumptive President Digong’s search committee should convince Toledo, who’s working for a big company as legal counsel, to become the presidential spokesperson.

If Digong imposes the 9 p.m. curfew for minors and a liquor ban to start at midnight, he will considerably cut the crime rate down.

Minors are being used by criminals to barge into homes at night and if they get caught, the police release them to the care of their consenting parents or social welfare officers, thanks to that stupid law authored by Kiko Pangilinan.

Most stabbings and shootings in the wee hours are committed by people under the influence of liquor or drugs.

Road mishaps at night have been traced to drunken drivers who came from bars or karaoke joints.
