City, provincial prosecutors cited for poll success

THE head of the National Prosecution Service (NPS) on Thursday lauded the city and provincial  prosecutors for their role in the just concluded May 9 elections.

“The just concluded 2016 National and Local Elections cannot be considered successful without the meaningful and indispensable participation of our prosecutors, more particularly the City and Provincial Prosecutors who were vice-chairmen of their respective canvassing boards,” Prosecutor General Claro Arellano said.

“The expeditious transmission of results guaranteed a genuine and credible expression of our peoples will through the ballots. I therefore most warmly commend our City and Provincial Prosecutors for responsibly and diligently discharging their delicate role as vice-chairmen of these electoral boards that undoubtedly ensured the facility and credibility of the election as part of our democratic process,” he added.

Arellano said the participation of  government prosecutors during the elections is a “priceless civic and patriotic duty to enhance the faith of our people in our adherence to the Constitution and the Rule of Law.”
