Quick count for local absentee voting begins.

THE Commission on Elections has sent the certificates of canvass of the votes cast by local absentee voters to the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV), a first in the history of the automated elections.

“This is the first time since the automated elections in 2010. Dito pinadala ang ballot box ng local absentee voting para ma-encode kasi hindi siya papasok sa system, this is manual,” said PPCRV spokesperson Anna Singson at the Pope Pius headquarters on Thursday.

“Ayokong pabuksan nang walang saksi kaya dapat makita niyo,” she told reporters.

The votes from the local absentee voting will be registered to the PPCRV for the unofficial, partial quick count, she added.

The Comelec has earlier approved 24,497 applications for the local absentee voting for the May 9 elections. Most of the voters were government employees, police, military personnel and media workers who could not cast their vote on Election Day. The voting period was conducted from April 27 to 29./rga
