PPCRV on hash codes: Ask Comelec

The Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) said it has nothing to do with the computer script in the transmission of votes as it only receives data from the main transparency server of the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

“Hindi namin malalaman kung ano ang ginalaw sa loob. Lahat kami sa kwarto pare-pareho ang tinatanggap (We won’t know what was put inside [the script of the server]. All of us in the room received the same results),” PPCRV Chairperson Henrietta de Villa told reporters on Thursday.

She explained that the recipients of data from the Comelec’s Transparency Server are the Liberal Party, United Nationalist Alliance, PPCRV and the Kapisanan ng Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP). Another mirror server was set up by the Comelec for the non-KBP members.

De Villa said all issues about the programming in the computers should be directed to Comelec.

“Tinatanggap lang namin ang electronic results from the transparency server kaya kung paano pinadala sa amin, kung papano ang paggawa sa files, ang Comelec ang authority dyan kaya hindi kami sasagot kung may dinagdag, may binawas. Ang Comelec ang dapat sumagot dun,” she said.

(We are only receiving electronic results from the transparency server so the issues on how it was sent to us and how the files are done should be directed to the Comelec because it is the authority here so we won’t answer if there were shaved off or increased [votes]. The Comelec should answer these issues.)

The camp of vice presidential candidate Sen. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has alleged cheating that increased the votes of his closest rival Camarines Sur Rep. Ma. Leonor “Leni” Robredo. An IT expert monitoring the quick count has also said that hash codes of the packet data were altered but it did not necessarily mean that there was fraud.
