Evardone, Nicart reelected Samar rep, gov

TACLOBAN CITY, Philippines—Samar Rep. Ben Evardone and Gov. Conrado Nicart Jr. won their reelection bids in landslide victories.

Both were proclaimed around 4 a.m. on Wednesday by the Provincial Board of Canvassers after defeating their opponents.

Evardone of the Liberal Party won by a margin of 37,721 votes against former former Guiuan town Mayor Annaliz Gonzales Kwan whom he also defeated in 2013.

He received 132,109 votes while Kwan got 94,388 votes.

Nicart defeated former immigration commissioner Marcelino Libanan, a former congressman of the province running under the Nacionalist Party, by more than 54,000 votes. Nicart received 135,261 votes while Libanan obtained 80,351 votes. RAM
