Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. have emerged victorious in the local absentee voting.
On a list of total, unofficial results for the local absentee voting provided by Commissioner Rowena Guanzon from Committee on Local Absentee Voting director Allen Francis Abaya on Wednesday, Duterte got 10,283 votes. Vice President Jejomar Binay is a far second with 4,375 votes.
Trailing behind Duterte and Binay are Senator Grace Poe with 1,628 votes, former Interior Secretary Manuel “Mar” Roxas II with 1,419 votes, Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago with 1,253 votes and the late ambassador Roy Seneres with 2 votes.
Meanwhile, Marcos topped the vice presidential race with 11,638 votes. His closest rival, administration candidate Maria Leonor “Leni” Robredo got 2,341 votes.
Following Marcos and Robredo are Senators Alan Peter Cayetano (2,134 votes), Antonio Trillanes IV (1,588 votes), Francis “Chiz” Escudero (944 votes), and Gregorio “Gringo” Honasan II (314 votes).
For the May 9 polls, the Comelec has approved 24,497 of 28,020 applications for local absentee voting.
According to the Comelec Resolution No. 10003, those who are allowed to avail of the local absentee voting are the following: government officials and employees, members of the Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and members of the media who will not be able to cast their vote on election day due to the performance of their functions.
The local absentee voting was conducted last April 27 to 29. RAM
