Malacañang on Tuesday denied the existence of a so-called “Plan B” or a plot to impeach Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte once he is proclaimed president.
“Masyado yatang malawak na imahinasyon ang ginagamit sa ganyang mga scenario,” Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. said in a Palace briefing.
(Those thinking that probably have a big imagination.)
Coloma asked media what exactly Plan B meant and the reporters present cited posts on social media claiming that the Aquino administration had a “Plan B” for the elections—ensure the victory of Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo so she may succeed Duterte once he is impeached.
The secretary pointed out that only Congress could file an impeachment complaint against the president.
Coloma called such claims “irresponsible and reckless.”
“At kung kumbinsido tayo na iresponsable at reckless ‘yun, baka naman waste of time din ‘yun na binibigyang pansin pa natin,” he said.
(And if we are convinced that it is irresponsible and reckless maybe it is a waste of time for us to even take notice of it.)
He said it was disrespectful to the House of Representatives for people to suggest that it would call for the impeachment of the next president, especially since its new members had yet to be proclaimed.
With Robredo leading the vice presidential race by a small margin, according to the unofficial count of the Commission on Elections Transparency Server, her contender Sen. Bongbong marcos is claiming that “Plan B is in full swing.”
