Scottish officials had no choice but to apprehended a man on Monday, after teaching and filming his girlfriend’s pug to respond to Nazi slogans as a ‘prank’.

Markus Meechan, a native of  Lanarkshire, Scotland, was guilty of uploading a video of the dog named Buddah, who was raising its paw in an imitation Nazi salute, popularised by the dreaded German dictator and Nazi Party leader, Adolf Hitler.

As per reports from The Telegraph, Meechan taught the unsuspecting pooch to respond to the phrase “gas the Jews” as well as “Sieg Heil,”

He also let the dog view footage of the man behind the Holocaust giving a speech.

In an almost two-and-a-half minute Youtube clip entitled “M8 Yer Dugs A Nazi”, Meechan revealed his motives behind his insensitive joke.

“My girlfriend is always ranting and raving about how cute her dog is so I thought I would turn her into the least cute thing you could think of which is a Nazi,” the report quoted him saying.

Shortly after his arrest, Meechan denied being racist, and insisted he’d made the video solely to annoy his girlfriend.

“I am so sorry to the Jewish community for any offence I have caused them. This was never my intention and I apologise.”

Despite the severity of his prank gone bad, authorities had trouble discerning Meechan’s charges.

He was subsequently released pending further investigations and has since declined to comment any further.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Council of Jewish Communities (SCJC), meanwhile, did not accept Meechan’s apologies and went on to condemn his actions.

“Antisemitism is not something that can in any degree be regarded as a joke,” SCIJC director Ephraim Borowski told the Telegraph.

“It is a form of racism which needs to be condemned just as we would any other form of racism, just as we would condemn Islamophobia or anti-African racism.”

Meanwhile, one of the arresting officers at the scene, Detective Inspector David Cockburn, advised the public about taking their jokes too far.

“This arrest should serve as a warning to anyone posting such material online, or in any other capacity, that such views will not be tolerated.” Khristian Ibarrola
