CEBU CITY — Tomas Osmeña was proclaimed as the new mayor of Cebu City by the city’s Board of Canvassers at 4 a.m. Tuesday.

The final tally showed that Osmeña garnered a total of 267,222 votes, the BOC said.

The BOC, however,  did not announce the total number of votes received by Mayor Michael Rama.

Rama, just hours earlier, declared he was not conceding to Osmeña as he believed that the votes the latter got were meant for him.

The last vote count flashed on widescreen TV mounted at the canvassing area around midnight showed that Osmeña had 254,566 votes while Rama was trailing behind with 219,378 votes.

Rama was at his office on the same building at the time Osmeña was being proclaimed winner in the race by the BOC.  SFM
