UNA: It’s still ‘mathematically possible’ for Binay to win

THE camp of Vice President Jejomar Binay on Monday night said it is still “mathematically possible” for the opposition standard-bearer to catch up with and overtake Rodrigo Duterte who is leading the presidential race based on the partial and unofficial results of the 2016 elections.
In a press conference at the United Nationalist Alliance media center at New Horizon Hotel in Mandaluyong, Binay’s spokesperson Rico Quicho said it was still too early to celebrate and that the vice president would continue to fight to protect his votes until the Comelec canvassing.
“It’s still mathematically possible (for Binay to win)… I think we all know that this campaign has been very unpredictable,” Quicho said.
“It’s really difficult to play with numbers. Just like you, we wait [with] bated breath in the coming of the results. But we feel at this point in time, it’s still too early to celebrate,” he added.
Quicho said despite Duterte’s early lead with over 40 percent of clustered precincts transmitted, the camp of Binay remains “optimistic that by tomorrow (Tuesday) things will be clearer and the results more believable.”
He said the vice president is at his home spending time with his grandchildren.
“Tomorrow, we’ll fight again,” Quicho said.
