Comelec extends voting in precincts marred by delay

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) en banc decided on Monday afternoon to extend the voting period in precincts that opened at 9 a.m. or later.

In a press conference, Comelec Chair Andres Bautista said the voting period in these precincts would end at 6 p.m.

Bautista emphasized that the extension would be implemented on a case-to-case basis.

According to Comelec Resolution No. 10088, voting hours are from 6 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Various poll watchdogs reported that several precincts nationwide encountered problems with the vote-counting machines, including rejection of ballots, among others./rga
