Voter shot dead in Maguindanao town

GUINDULUNGAN, Maguindanao—A 20-year-old voter was shot dead following a stoning incident inside the compound of the Tambunan Central Elementary School here,  police said.

Police Officer Sukarno Konakon said Unggay Usop died of a gunshot wound in the head around 7 a.m. Monday.

The victim was with other companions when another group threw stones at them. Then shots rang out, said Konakon.

The incident took place despite the heavy presence of security forces and armored vehicles just outside the school’s premises.
