DIGOS CITY, Philippines – Voting at the Magsaysay Elementary School here started on time and appeared to be orderly, except for confusion brought about by clustering of precincts.
Some voters also found their names missing from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) master list but after going to the poll body’s office – which is just outside the school – they were able to trace their cluster.
Rolly Impas, a candidate for provincial board, also complained about some men wearing shirts emblazoned with Abante, the local party of incumbent Mayor Joseph Peñas, outside the polling centers.
Impas is running under Hugpong Davao del Sur headed by former governor Douglas Cagas.
Peñas and Cagas belong to opposing parties.
But one of the men pointed out they were members of Abante’s legal team, which is assisting voters. CDG
