SORSOGON, Philippines – The early bird gets the worm and independent vice presidential candidate Francis “Chiz” Escudero apparently believes this to be true.

The senator was among the first to cast their votes Monday at the Buhatan Integrated National School here.

Wearing a white shirt and denim pants, a laid-back Escudero came with his wife, celebrity Heart Evangelista, as they arrived at 6:10 a.m. and proceeded to precinct #0079A.

The couple breezed through the voting and were out of the school which only had three precincts and catered to a total of 1,918 registered voters.
Escudero’s mother Evelina, who is unopposed in seeking reelection as Sorsogon’s first district representative, is expected to vote in the same precinct later in the day.

Other family members who are seeking public office are Chiz’ uncle Antonio “Kruni” Escudero, who is hoping to keep the provincial vice gubernatorial position, and cousin Jun, who is eyeing to stay as a member of the provincial board.
