An initial report from the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) police said the victims were onboard a Mitsubishi Adventure (plate number URQ 913) and two motorcycles when they were waylaid by a group of armed men at 12 a.m. in Barangay Wawa 3.

Three of those killed were identified as Arniel Sharief, Farhan Datu Imam and Ramon Tuazon. A certain Fatar Mampon survived and was taken to a hospital in Cavite.

The Calabarzon police have yet to release details of the incident but earlier classified Rosario as an area of concern due to intense political rivalry among local candidates.
