Tutor nabbed over alleged sex abuse of his student

A male teacher from Davao City who allegedly forced his female student to have a relationship with him ended up behind bars after he threatened to upload her nude photos on Facebook.

Jaime Oliva, 44, a teacher at the Davao City Special Education School, was arrested by the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) after the student’s mother complained.

ACG director Senior Supt. Guillermo Lorenzo Eleazar said the 17-year-old victim confessed to her mother that she had agreed to a sexual relationship with the married Oliva for one year in exchange for financial considerations, including a regular allowance.

Oliva taught geography, history and civics at the school.

The teacher was arrested on Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. in an entrapment operation at a church in Central Park Subdivision, Bangkal, Davao City.

Oliva was apprehended while in his Ford Ecosport, which was impounded.

“We learned the suspect forced the minor to have a relationship with him and took nude pictures while they were inside a motel,” Eleazar said.

When the girl wanted to break it off, Oliva allegedly threatened to upload her naked photos on Facebook.

The ACG learned that Oliva was also able to access the victim’s Twitter account.

Eleazar said Oliva allegedly also demanded sex with one of the victim’s friends, in exchange for not leaking the naked pictures on social media.

The ACG recovered two cell phones and a digital camera which was subjected to forensic examination by the PNP-ACG.

Oliva will be charged with violation of Republic Act No. 7610, the Anti-Child Abuse Act; RA 10175, the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, and RA 9995, the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act.
